{Paso Robles} Cinco de Mayo

I hope you all had a great Cinco de Mayo! We had such a fun time in Paso Robles for our group’s fifth annual trip. We try to hit a new locale each year, the only criteria being no more than 3-4 hour drive from SF and somewhere remote-ish…so that we can spend lots of time lounging around, reading magazines, catching up…and we don’t feel pressure to be out “doing stuff”.
We did manage to sneak out for a little bit of wine tasting on Saturday (between nap schedules for the little guys…and some of the adults), and then I cooked us up a Cinco de Mayo feast.  Here are a few pics from the night…
Enjoying “happy hour” at sunset…
Papalote’s famous salsa and Allegra’s deelish guacamole…
Cheesy grilled jalapenos (sorry, no recipe…will try to compose and share another time)…
Mustache decor made an appearance…
And my pork carnitas bar was a hit…America’s Test Kitchen recipe is a keeper! (tutorial here)
There are also plenty of late night hilarious mustaches pictures…but those shall remain in the vault. If there’s one thing us gals learned this weekend, dark mustaches do not a pretty picture make…hilarious? yes…pretty? not one bit.
